Traco Octopus Newsroom System Integration

Traco Octopus integrates the Octopus NRCS newsroom system directly into the Avid MediaCentral | Cloud UX environment, enabling journalists and editors to work with stories, rundowns and media assets within a unified newsroom workflow. The platform connects newsroom planning, script writing and video production by allowing users to access Octopus stories, manage story elements and link media clips directly from the MediaCentral interface.

By combining newsroom management with video production tools, Traco Octopus enables editorial teams to create and manage news content without switching between separate systems.

Why Traco Octopus?

Modern newsrooms require seamless collaboration between editorial planning and video production. Traco Octopus connects the Octopus newsroom system with Avid MediaCentral, allowing journalists and editors to manage rundowns, edit stories and work with media assets directly inside the newsroom production environment. This integration simplifies newsroom workflows while ensuring that editorial teams can access and update news content from any location.

Newsroom workflow integration

Traco Octopus enables editorial teams to access and manage rundowns, stories and newsroom folders directly within MediaCentral Cloud UX. Stories can be opened, edited and updated inside the interface while maintaining full synchronization with the Octopus NRCS system. Story elements can include scripts, notes, MOS objects and associated media clips, allowing editorial and production teams to collaborate on the same content within a single workflow.

Media and story element management

Each story element can be connected with a video clip or media asset stored in the Avid environment. Editors can create new clips directly from story elements or link existing media assets using drag-and-drop from MediaCentral applications such as Browse, Search or Media Player. This connection between newsroom scripts and video assets allows editors to quickly move from editorial planning to video production.

Integration with editing systems

Traco Octopus supports embedded operation inside production tools such as Media Composer and Adobe Premiere Pro, enabling editors to access newsroom stories while working in the editing environment. Story elements containing video clips can be directly transferred to editing bins, allowing production teams to begin editing without leaving the newsroom workflow.

MOS and graphics integration

Traco Octopus supports MOS-based workflows, allowing newsroom stories to contain timed or untimed MOS objects. Through integration with systems such as Traco GFX, newsroom scripts can include broadcast graphics and other production elements that are triggered during live broadcasts.
